James Weinberg, Founder and CEO
Recognizing the need for nonprofits and jobseekers to receive more direct support in connecting with each other, James Weinberg founded Commongood Careers, a national nonprofit search firm dedicated to supporting social entrepreneurs with their hiring needs at every organizational level, providing resources for socially driven jobseekers, and addressing talent-related issues throughout the sector. Previously, James served as National Development Director at BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), where over three years he helped the organization to grow from a $4 million to a $15 million budget and expand service levels from 1,500 to 6,000 children nationally. Prior to this, James served as the Executive Director of the Homeless Children’s Education Fund, where he worked to ensure that children who are homeless have equal access to the same educational opportunities and experiences as their peers. James has a master’s degree in Management & Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University, is an alumnus of the Coro Fellows Graduate Program in Public Affairs, and holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tufts University. Allyson Biegeleisen, Director of Client Services
Prior to joining Commongood Careers, Allyson worked in the legal field as a paralegal and trial preparation assistant before transitioning her career into the nonprofit sector. Most recently, Allyson worked as a Program Associate for Families First Parenting Programs, a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening families. While at Families First, Allyson helped bring parenting and professional trainings to numerous nonprofits throughout greater Boston and was asked to serve as a community representative on Boston Public Schools hiring committee. An avid volunteer, she has acted as an organizer for clothing drives to benefit Dress for Success. Allyson holds a bachelors’ degree in Psychology from the University of Vermont and a master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from Suffolk University. Presceia Cooper, Associate Service Manager
A strong believer in working on behalf of mission-driven organizations, Presceia brings a sense of personal commitment to her role at Commongood Careers. Prior to joining the team, she held a number of nonprofit internships for such organizations as Building Educated Leaders for Life, Teen Voices Inc, and WGBH children’s programming department. Kevin Flynn, Service Manager
Kevin brings his personal dedication to the public sector to his role at Commongood Careers. Prior to joining the team, he was as a program assistant with National TenPoint Leadership Foundation, working with high risk and gang involved youth to reduce violence in the most underserved neighborhoods in cities through the country. He also served as the executive administrator of Ella J. Baker House in Dorchester, MA. Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Boston College. Kasey Gagnon, Director of Partnership Development
Kasey is responsible for managing recruitment partnerships and new business development. Prior to joining Commongood Careers, Kasey held an internship at Organization for a New Equality. An avid traveler, Kasey has taught English in Spain and been a volunteer for a service program in Mexico. Dana Hagenbuch, Director of Marketing and Communications
Dana brings over ten years of experience in marketing and program management to her role at Commongood Careers. Most recently, she served as Marketing Manager at TechSoup.org, a Web-based publication and technology product donation service serving over 50,000 nonprofits. Prior to joining TechSoup.org, Dana was part of the marketing team at Brainpower, a web-based job board for information technology contractors. She has also held program roles at A.T. Kearney’s MBA recruitment program and CCUSA’s international student recruitment and placement program. Kevin Kovaleski, Service Manager
Interested in strengthening the social sector, Kevin brings a wealth of passion and commitment to his role at Commongood Careers. Kevin previously served as a Research Consultant for the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy and a Research Assistant for The Center for Community Research and Service at the University of Delaware. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management from the University of Delaware. Missy Longshore, Regional Director, San Francisco
As Commongood Careers’ Regional Director, Missy Longshore is responsible for launching and growing our West Coast operations based in San Francisco. Missy has nine years of experience in nonprofit organizations and most recently served as the Business Development Manager at New Door Ventures. She served as a nonprofit management consultant at TDC after completing her MBA with a concentration in Public and Nonprofit Management at Boston University. Her prior nonprofit work in the Bay Area included work in advocacy, public television, and youth development. She graduated cum laude from Smith College with a bachelor’s degree in Government. Katie Pakenham, Service Manager and Director of Candidate Experience
Katie brings over 12 years of experience in the nonprofit world to her work at Commongood Careers. After graduating from the City Year Boston 1993-1994 corps, she spent another five years on staff at City Year in a variety of capacities including team leading, events planning, outreach, development, corporate service partnerships, project management, youth development and training. She moved to Concord Academy, her alma mater, to serve first as the Director of CA Ventures building, facilitating, and fundraising for new programmatic initiatives and then in the Alumni Affairs and Development Office. Faye Roccapriore Ryding, Service Manager
Faye joins Commongood Careers after working for 3 years at the Council on International Educational Exchange. In that role, she recruited university students from around the world to participate in a seasonal cultural work exchange program at U.S.-based employers. Erin Reedy, Service Manager
Erin brings an extensive background in affordable housing and lending to the service team at Commongood Careers. At the Rhode Island Housing and Mortgage Finance Corporation, Erin was responsible for all of the corporation’s multifamily financing programs. Her background also includes work in nonprofit public relations, community outreach, research, and special projects. A Rhode Island resident, Erin is a committee member of United Way of Southeastern New England. She has a master’s of Public Administration from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from The College of the Holy Cross. Lucy Rugo, Associate Service Manager
Prior to her role as Associate Search Manager, Lucy was a research specialist for the Office of University-Community Partnerships at Emory University. In this role, she worked on projects related to affordable housing, education, and the re-entry of formerly incarcerated people into society. Maureen Sarna, Recruitment Coordinator
Prior to her work at Commongood Careers, Maureen held a number of nonprofit internships, including serving as a research intern at The Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, a research intern at Free Press, and a program intern at AARP’s Office of Social Impact. Rachel Sexton, Operations Manager
In her role as Operations Manager, Rachel draws on five years of experience in project management. As an archaeological technician with the National Park Service, Rachel worked to protect such historic sites as the Minuteman National Historical Park, Acadia National Park, Women’s Right’s National Historic Park in Seneca Falls, NY and the home of Franklin Roosevelt. Her responsibilities also entailed planning logistics and cataloguing data for several major projects. In her spare time, she enjoys acting as Assistant Director of a youth music group. Cassie Scarano, Co-Founder and Vice President
As Commongood Careers’s Co-Founder and Vice President, Cassie Scarano is directly responsible for its service development and delivery. Cassie has ten years of experience in non-profit organizations and has served as the Dean of Admissions at The Steppingstone Foundation, Director of Operations at The New Teacher Project’s Massachusetts Institute for New Teachers (MINT), and Director of Summerbridge Cambridge, all non-profits dedicated to providing high quality educational opportunities to a diversity of students. Cassie holds a master’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, both from Boston University. Jocelyn Sherman, Director, Special Projects
Jocelyn brings six years of experience in program administration and nonprofit management to Commongood Careers. She spent two years working as a classroom teacher before transitioning into the nonprofit sector where she worked in Jewish Community Centers. Jocelyn served as Director of the Stamford 2006 JCC Maccabi Games, an international Olympic-style sporting event for teens, and most recently served as Associate Executive Director of the Stamford Jewish Community Center in Connecticut. Loc Truong, Career Advisor
Loc holds over ten years of experience in counseling and education. His experience spans elementary, secondary and higher education and has worked in the nonprofit sector, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, YMCA, and AmeriCorps. Most recently, he was the Assistant Director of Employer Relations at Harvard University. He has also worked as a counselor in both Upward Bound and GEAR UP programs, and has been recognized for his volunteer work by President Clinton.
